Pappaya Halwa or Pappali Halwa

Indian Halwa recipe

Pappaya Halwa Ingredients:

1. Pappaya - 2 cups
2. Milk - 1 cup
3. Sugar - 1 cup or to taste
4. Kesari colour - a pinch
5. Ghee - 2 tbsp

Garnishing ingredients:

1. Cardamom powder - a pinch
2. Cashew nut - 6 (roasted)
3. Pista - 4
4. Badam - 4

Halwa Preparation:

Peel the outer layer of the skin and remove the seeds.

Grate the pappaya and keep it aside.

Now take the pan and add 1 tbsp of ghee and heat.

Then add the grated pappaya.

Stir well on low flame till the raw smell disappears.

Add milk and cook on low flame till the pappaya is tender.

Once it starts thickening stir continuously.

Then add sugar and kesari colour and mix well.

Cook further till thickness.

Now add remaining ghee and cardamom powder.

Stir on low flame till the ghee separates from the halwa.

Garnish with cashew nuts, pista and almonds.

Pappali halwa is ready to serve.

Serve hot or cold.

Note:

Roast the nuts in 1 tsp of ghee then broken into small pieces.
