JAVVARISI PAYASAM

INDIAN DESSERT RECIPE

Javvarisi payasam OR Sabudana kheer ingredients:

1. Javvarisi or sabudana or saggubiyyam – 1½ cup
2. Milk – 4 cups
3. Ghee – 2 tsp
4. Cardamom powder – a pinch
5. Sugar – 1 cup or to taste
6. Cashew nuts – 5
7. Kismis – 7 (dry grapes)
8. Badam - 4 (optional)
9. Pista - 4 (optional)

Sabudana Payasam Preparation:

Clean and wash the javvarisi and drain all the water.

Keep it aside.

Take a heavy bottomed pan and add milk and bring it to boil.

Then add javvarisi.

Stir well and cook for few mins.

When the javvarisi looks sticky add sugar and stir until sugar dissolves.

Finally add cardamom powder.

Remove from heat.

Garnish with badam, pista, cashew nuts and kismis.

Sabudana payasam is ready.

Serve hot.

Note:

Roast pista, badam, cashew nuts and kismis in 1 tsp of ghee.

Then broken into small pieces.

Roast the cardamom in ghee and then powder it.

Cooking time 20 to 30 mins
