Chettinad tamarind rice

(South indian rice recipe)

Chettinad tamarind rice ingredients:

Ingredients 1:
Tamarind (1big lemon size)
Oil: 5 tbspoon
Mustard : 1/2 tbspoon
Gram Dal: 1 tbspoon
Urad Dal: 1 tbspoon
Ground Nuts: 50gms
Red Chilly: 5 or to taste
Asoefitida: 1/4 tbspoon
Turmeric Powder: 1/2 tbspoon

Ingredients 2:(For Powder)
Corainder Seeds: 2 tbspoon
Red Chilli: 3
White Yellu(Seasame seeds): 1 tbspoon
Methi Seeds(Vendhiyam) : 1 tbspoon

Tamarind rice preparation:

Take a thick bottomed pan fry all the items in Ingredients 2, (add white yellu atlast) till the aroma comes.

Allow it to cool and make it to fine powder.

Keep the same pan and add all the oil when it becomes heat add the mustard.

Once it crackles add gram dal,ground nut, red chilly, asofoetida, turmeric powder and saute till it becomes golden brown.

Now add the tamarind juice and salt and mix well, allow it to become thick and when oil is separated from the thoku(gravy) remove it from heat.

Add the powder to the tamarind and mix well.

Now mix it with plain rice.

A mouth watering Tamarind Rice is ready. Try it.
