Banana Fry or Plantain Fry

Vazhaikai Varuval or Aratikaya vepudu

Banana Fry Ingredients:

1.  Raw banana – 2
2.  Garlic flakes – 2
3.  mustard – 1 tsp
4.  Urad dal - 1 tsp
6.  Chilli powder - 1 tsp
7.  Turmeric powder – ˝ tsp
8.  Salt - to taste
9.  Curry leaves – a few
10. oil- ˝ tbsp

Plantain Fry Preparation:

Peel the outer layer of the skin.

Cut into small cubes.

Now boil these cubes with little amount of water.

When the pieces are cooked, remove from heat and drain the water and keep aside.

Now take a pan and heat with oil.

Add mustard seeds.

When they start to crackle add crushed garlic flakes, urad dal and curry leaves.

Sauté till urad dal turn into golden yellow colour.

Now add the cooked banana pieces, turmeric powder and salt.

Combine well and cook for 5 to 10 mins.

Then add chilli powder and once again combine well.

Cook for another 3 to 5 mins.

Plantain fry is ready.

Serve with Sambar rice, Rasam rice, etc...
